Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ryan unfortunately became stranded on board his cruise ship after spending 3.5 months in Antarctica. After being stuck at sea on board the Seabourn Odyssey for over 80 days, Ryan was finally able to disembark the ship in Bridgetown, Barbados and fly home to Las Vegas. With the help of Congressman Devin Nunes, Michael Bowerbank at the US Embassy in Bridgetwown, Barbdos, and the networks and newspapers, Ryan was able to pressure the Carnival Corporation and the US Government to allow his return to the US via a private charter flight.

Ryan was recently interviewed by New York Times author John Branch regarding being stuck at sea for over 80 days. His article helped raise awareness regarding the tens of thousands of seafarers that were stuck at sea due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The article also put pressure on the cruise corporations and the US Government to allow Ryan and other seafarers to return home.
Ryan recently made several appearances on Fox News Network to discuss being stuck at sea for over 80 days on board the Seabourn Odyssey cruise ship. He had the opportunity to be featured on Americas Newsroom with Ed Henry and Sandra Smith as well as two appearances on Fox & Friends with Jillian Mele and Pete Hegseth.
